As with any year, there have been some absolutely stunning albums released by fantastic bands. This year saw a few come from bands that we didn’t think would every release anything again. There were also some debuts that were so good that they almost created a sense of disbelief.

I’ve gathered a list of my Top 10 albums of 2015, which goes from some of the most extreme metal to some of the most wondrous electronica.

After you’ve checked out my list, which is in alphabetical order and that’s it, let me know some of your favorites in the comments!

    No Uncle Acid love? 🙁

  • WindowsIsDead

Meliora is a great album, but I felt it was kinda shy, so I’d still take Infestissumam over it.
Still Opus Eponymous will ever be my favorite for Genesis alone.

I would have fit Cluster Buster’s Knee-Deep in the Dead on this list. But is a great one overall

*Thanks for the tip on Oneohtrix, great stuff that I wasn’t aware of!

  • SchoolSchool

Thanks to this site for introducing me to both Oneothrix Point Never and Gunship when they first came out. Been on heavy rotation since.

  • Steven Wilson Hand. Cannot. Erase was maybe the best of the year, another masterpiece by Steven Wilson, what a genius.

  • Shadow914

Cattle Decapitation – The Anthropocene Extinction is my album of the year, glad to see it on your list. Ghost – Meliora would be in the top 10 for sure.

  • Skull-And-Crossbones

nice to see lamb of god end up on someones list this year. i thought the album was phenomenal. much better then wrath and resolution. battlecross and the black dahlia murder also put out really good albums this year. i also liked the new coal chamber album

  • DBZEROGRAVITY

    Ghost’s “Meliora” is amazing

  • CTHL

I didn’t really listen to much this year (like 2 of your 10… will work on that), but as is:
    1. Puscifier’s Money Shot
    2. High on Fire’s Luminiferous
    3. Adele’s 25 (that’s right)
    4. Coal Chamber’s Rivals
    5. Iron Maiden’s The Book of Souls

    • DBZEROGRAVITY

Honestly I was disappointed in 25. After that huge single I was expecting more great songs to fill the record… instead Hello just towers over the remainder of it

      • CTHL

I thought it was pretty 50/50 with good/blah songs myself. Note though that #3 on my list isn’t super high praise when the options are only like 10 deep. 🙂

  • 1. Coma Ecliptic – Between the Buried and Me
    2. Liber Lucifer – Thy Darkened Shade
    3. Holy War – Thy Art is Murder
    4. Hammer of the Witches – Cradle of Filth
    5. The Anthropocene Extinction – Cattle Decapitation
    6. Polaris – Tesseract
    7. Sunyata – Acrimonious
    8. The Congregation – Leprous
    9. Apex Predator – Napalm Death
    10. Meloria – Ghost

I know I’ve had many other favourites this year but right now, I can only think of 6:

    Gunship – Gunship
Benjamin Clementine – At Least For Now
    Rumer – Into Colour
The Milk Carton Kids – Monterey
    It Follows – Original Soundtrack
    Protomartyr – The Agent Intellect

  • I Am Colossus

Slayer put out the best album of the year. By far….bar none

    • I Am Colossus

      SLAYER

  • CDC_

Nice to see your music taste is still as abysmal as ever.
