The final installment of the trilogy Anderson began with Resident Evil: Afterlife
Today, Resident Evil 6 comes to the PC, and it’s bringing with it some exclusive content. This includes an exciting — and free — Resident Evil 6 x Left 4 Dead 2 crossover that infuses the PC version of RE6 with the cast and a couple of the enemies from L4D2. Coach, Nick, Ellis and Rochelle will be playable in the Mercenaries No Mercy mode, where the Witch and Mini Tank will appear as enemies.
The crossover begins on April 5, but you can purchase Resident Evil 6 right now on PC for #29.99 (€29.99/£19.99). See the crossover in action after the break, along with a fresh batch of screenshots from the Onslaught mode.

First Showing broke the news minutes ago that Paul W.S. Anderson is confirmed to direct the currently untitled Resident Evil 6.
They also confirm that Milla Jovovich will return as Alice in the final installment of the new trilogy Anderson began with Resident Evil: Afterlife.
Anderson plans to start shooting Resident Evil 6 this fall. Screen Gems will keep with the fall release pattern and unroll in theaters September 12, 2014.
It’s not all that surprising that the duo are collaborating once again as Anderson left last year’s Resident Evil: Retribution open for a big final that takes place at the White House. READ MORE
If you’re still on the fence about Resident Evil 6 or just waiting for its price to drop, Capcom is doing a fine job of making the upcoming PC version the one to get. If you pre-order the game on Steam before its March 22 release you will receive the DLC Season Pass, a digital artbook and soundtrack and Resident Evil 5 for free. If PC gaming isn’t your thing there’s the upcoming PS3 and Xbox 360 exclusive Siege Mode that’s basically Mercenaries with a lot more enemies thrown at you at once. Otherwise you can pre-purchase your PC copy for $39.99 on Steam right now.

Now that Sony Screen Gems has set a release date of September 12th, 2014 (per Sony), it’s hard to imagine that Paul W.S. Anderson won’t be back for Resident Evil 6. He’s gone on record numerous times stating that he intended to start, and complete, a new trilogy that began with Resident Evil: Afterlife and continued with last September’s Resident Evil: Retribution.
While Retribution‘s domestic take wasn’t exactly enormous, its worldwide gross was $221,810,789 (Afterlife had an even more impressive cume of $296,221,663). In the Dickson house, we don’t care if your money comes from Japan, Bulgaria or wherever, just as long as it’s money. Most other businesses feel the same way, hence the continued march of the series.
Even though these movies aren’t always my cup of tea, I felt that Retribution was easily the best. What would YOU like to see in the soon-to-be-retitled Resident Evil 6?
Some of the enemies in Resident Evil 6 may have bordered on comical — I’m looking at you, man with the giant chicken legs — but there were a few that were genuinely freaky. The basic enemy you come across in RE6 is the J’avo, a mutated, mostly-human creature that has freaky spider eyes and a fondness for sprouting fucking chicken legs. They’re ugly and I was always happy to put them down. Cosplayer Toten2 has taken the J’avo’s… unique face and brought it into the real world. The results are a little gross. Check him out after the jump!

The latest and most polarizing entry in Capcom’s action horror franchise has been available on the PS3 and Xbox 360 since October, but PC fans still won’t get it until next month. In an effort to drum up interest in the upcoming PC version, Capcom has released some new gameplay footage from it that will look awfully familiar to anyone who’s played the game already, with a few exceptions. Of note is our first look at Mercenaries: No Mercy, the PC-exclusive version of the popular Mercenaries mode that throws more enemies at you at once. Seeing that many enemies on-screen at once is total anarchy. If you plan on getting Resident Evil 6 when it releases on PC, the two videos I have for you after the break should help give you an idea of what you’re in for. Or you could read our review.

So far, five million copies of Resident Evil 6 have sold worldwide, and for most games such an impressive number would be a huge success. The high development costs and even higher hopes Capcom had for the title, that isn’t the case, as it comes about two million short of their expectations. So what went wrong? Why, poor marketing, of course.

It took a little longer than expected, but come March 22, Resident Evil 6 will finally make its way to the PC. Since you’ve been so patient, Capcom has included a variant of the Mercenaries mode, dubbed “No Mercy,” which will be exclusive to the PC version of the game. Basically, it throws more enemies as you. The PC version will also bring with it the tweaks made in the recent console updates. Capcom also revealed a new mode that will be coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game that sounds an awful lot like an escort mission you can experience with your friends. See that in action after the break.

Whether or not you enjoyed Resident Evil 6 (I liked it a lot) there’s no denying that Capcom is doing a fantastic job supporting the game. First, they gave Ada a co-op partner, a tweaked camera, and a No Hope difficulty setting, and in less than a week, a second update will bring with it even more features. On January 22, Agent Hunt mode will be unlocked for everyone and QTE assist will be added for all difficulties (thank you). More after the jump.

I did some serious slacking the past 2 years and didn’t post my Best Horror Game articles like I did from 2007-2009. But I’m going to make it all up to you guys now. It’s easy for me to post my favorite horror games of the year, but I’m more curious about what games YOU guys liked the best. So if you head past the break you can look at my hand clicked selections from last year. Choose your favorite from the list, and then we can crown the winner! The poll will go for a couple weeks, or until I decide it has fizzled out! Head past the break to see your choices and to vote!
I feel bad dropping so much bad news today. Between The War Z, THQ’s filing for bankruptcy, the apocalypse, and this — today just isn’t a great day for gamers. It should come as no surprise that Resident Evil 6 didn’t sell as well as Capcom wanted it to, and this underperformance could spur the publisher to give the franchise another much-needed reboot. Overall, Capcom is bracing for a whopping $1.8 billion loss in their net sales for the year, which they’re attributing to Resident Evil 6 sales and the delay of Monster Hunter 4.
In related news, those multiplayer modes promised us released on the Xbox 360 today. You can buy them individually for 320 MSP, or get them all for 720 MSP.

Ada doesn’t have many friends, but that changes after this major update to Resident Evil 6. The free update will give Ada a partner so you can enjoy her campaign with a friend, and this new agent is also unlocked in the Extras. It also brings with improved camera options so you can adjust the camera to fit your play style and an ultra hard “No Hope” difficulty setting that will spank you, and not in the good way. This isn’t to be confused with the January update, which will unlock Agent Hunt mode from the beginning, provide more matchmaking options before starting a game, and stage selection within chapters. That update should go live on January 22nd. More after the break.

Between its four campaigns, Mercenaries, and the new Agent Hunt mode, Resident Evil 6 is already jam-packed with content. Soon, it’s going to be even more content heavy, assuming of course you’re willing to drop the cash for the three new modes Capcom is releasing for the Xbox 360 version of the game. You can be selective about it if you’re willing to pay 320 MSP to get them individually, or you can grab them all for the collective price of 720MSP. The modes are Onslaught, Predator, and Survivors, and they sound intriguing enough. See them in action after the break.

Capcom’s releasing the first batch of new game modes for Resident Evil 6 exclusively on the Xbox 360 later this month, with the other platforms getting it sometime later. The downloadable content includes Predator, Survivors, and Onslaught, which you can get individually for 320 MSP or all three for 720 MSP. No word yet on when the DLC will make its way to the PS3 or PC, but I assume there’s a (hopefully short) window of exclusivity for Microsoft’s console. The game was met with a lukewarm reception when it released back in October, but I loved it, so don’t let that keep you from playing one of the year’s most ridiculously fun co-op games. Resident Evil 6 is a wacky, over-the-top action game that brings together bits of many past Resident Evil games, but heavily draws from the last two. More on the new modes, including a bunch of screenshots, after the jump.

The Resident Evil series has brought us some incredible guns over the years. The Broken Butterfly? Yes please. Samurai Edge? Oh yeah. Red 9? Mmm, baby, say that again just a little more slowly. Resident Evil 6 is no slouch in the gun department, even though Capcom removed our ability to customize those beautiful weapons. Airsoft gun maker Tokyo Marui has once again taken it upon themselves to make me extremely jealous of the fine folks in Japan. Their new SIG p226 has been customized to fit in the Resident Evil universe. Check it out after the jump.

Update: If you haven’t participated already, get on it! The deadline to comment for a chance to win some Resident Evil 6 goodies is November 11th. Your odds of winning are pretty good, so there’s really no reason not to participate. Plus, every time you comment, a zombie learns how to love. Think of the zombies.
A few days ago a box arrived on my doorstep, and after I had opened it, observed its contents, and gotten over the wave of disappointment that washed over me after I realized it wasn’t a baby or small animal being left to my care — I started to plan. Inside this box I found a ton of Resident Evil 6 goodies, including three special editions of the game, two normal copies (all for the Xbox 360), over a dozen t-shirts in a variety of sizes, and a bunch of Geltabz that you can slap on your controller to make it roughly 65% more sexy. I fought the urge to toss it all in my bathtub so I could proceed to swim in it like the King of Swag that I’ve long aspired to be, so I could instead give it to you. Why? Because you make my world go round. Head past the break to find out how you can get your hands on some of this.

Making an appearance at the American Film Market in Santa Monica this morning were some promotional materials for Pompeii, the new epic from Paul W.S.Anderson (Resident Evil 5, Event Horizon) that details the burying of that ancient village by a Volcano.
You may remember a few years back when it was speculated that Anderson might indeed skip Resident Evil 5, after all Pompeii was scheduled to come out in the spring of 2012 and RE5 for September of 2012. Obviously, only one of those films made their date. And while Retribution’s global take of $217,719,678M is a bit lower than Afterlife’s $296,221,663M – it’s by no means a flop. And Anderson has said that he is committed to finishing his “new trilogy” within the franchise.
What do you think? Can Anderson pull of both Pompeii and RE6? Do you want him to? Head inside for the synopsis! READ MORE
There’s a title update coming to Resident Evil 6 that’s going to make some pretty big changes, including a new difficulty mode, improved camera adjustment, more subtitle options, and perhaps most exciting of all, a new co-op partner for Ada. Since the update was first announced, I’ve been looking forward to seeing what Capcom would do with Ada’s partner, and now that I’ve seen her in action, she looks… like a faceless soldier. You might be saying, who cares?, to which I’ll reply — well, yeah, you’re totally right. I’d like Ada’s partner to add some interest to that scenario, but if she doesn’t, I’m all right with that too. Head past the break for more info on the update and a bunch of screenshots, all featuring Ada’s new companion.

Resident Evil 6 may very well be the most polarizing game of this generation. I’ve never seen critics and fans so divided on what I thought was a pretty great game, but they are, and after spending an unhealthy amount of time with it, I can see why. Don’t get me wrong, I still love it, but there’s no arguing that it’s pretty heavily flawed. So let’s take a minute to discuss where Capcom went wrong, and how they can fix it after the break.

Here’s some good news for Resident Evil 6 fans — Capcom is prepping an update for the game that will bring with it a new difficulty mode dubbed ‘No Hope Left’, as well as co-op support for the previously single-player exclusive Ada scenario. Ada’s campaign will also be unlocked from the beginning, so you’ll no longer have to work for it, you lazy bum. “Said campaign was meant as a solo affair for Ms Wong, but odds are you’d like to play through it again with a pal – soon you can!” Capcom said on their blog, and I couldn’t agree more. Leon’s is easily my favorite of the bunch, and Ada’s may very well be a close second.
For those of you who might still be on the fence about the game, I suggest checking out our review. For the rest of you, who here’s played the game, and if you have, what do you think of it so far? Do you like what Capcom’s done with the game or is it time for another reboot?

The wait is finally over. What has already been a stellar year for horror fans is about to get even better with the long awaited Resident Evil 6. Capcom’s “throw everything and see what sticks” approach has resulted in four different campaigns that practically feel like their own games, the return of the highly addictive Mercenaries mode, and a new competitive Agent Hunt mode. Either this strategy has paid off, giving fans of the series a variety of different ways to enjoy this ambitious game, or everything could buckle under the weight of its lofty goals. Let’s find out.
