Friday The 13th Part VI: Jason Lives
While I love The Final Chapter, it’s really Jason Lives that earns the title of being the best Friday the 13th sequel. It contained self-referential and meta humor, which was a first for the franchise. It established Jason as a supernatural entity for the first time. It is also one of the gorier pictures in the series, with the producers ordering director Tom McLoughlin to add more kills and gore to the film (many of the Friday the 13th films had to be cut down to avoid an X-rating). Most importantly, Jason Lives is a helluva lot of fun, and has the distinction of being the last legitimately good film in the franchise (though I am an unabashed fan of Jason X).
