Resident Evil: Extinction
Look, no one is ever going to say that these films are good, but there’s just something about Resident Evil: Extinction that I always liked (for the record, I think 1 is fine if you don’t call it Resident Evil, Apocalypse is an atrocity, Afterlife is forgettable and bland, and Retribution is fun, but awful). Extinction is sort of the red-headed stepchild of the franchise, in that it goes off on its own and becomes a post-apocalyptic desert film a la Mad Max. It doesn’t always work, but you’ve got to respect the filmmakers for trying something different, which is why it’s my favorite film in the series. And I’m actually excited for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Sue me.
