Scream’s success would also spread to its sequel Scream 2, but that film would be more front-loaded in its box office gross. Scream 2 opened with $32.9 million and nearly matched its predecessor in it’s total domestic gross. It also received widespread critical acclaim, even more so than Scream did (suck it, haters).
