The widest release that The Orphanage ever saw in the United States was only 707 theaters, so that explains its low box office gross (it made 10 times that amount overseas). That being said, the Guillermo del Toro-produced film is an underrated classic that deserves to be talked about more (I actually prefer it to his own Pan’s Labyrinth).
