6. Harbinger Down

It is understandable to get excited when you hear that a horror film will be paying homage to The Thing by featuring animatronics, prosthetic makeup, stop motion and miniature effects, with limited use of computer generated imagery. Oh, and it stars Lance Henriksen. What could go wrong? Turns out, everything except the special effects. The acting is bad, the action is boring, and the film just doesn’t seem to have its own personality. To be clear, the practical effects are good and the icy setting is appropriately creepy, but there’s not much else to Harbinger Down.
