Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare
It’s not that the just the ending of Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare is bad (and boy, is it bad), it’s that the entire film is a bad ending to the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise. It’s goofy, has no memorable kills (save for Carlos’ death by hearing aid) and just doesn’t feel like the Nightmare on Elm Street we grew to love. Englund is great in it though, of course. Too bad he had become a caricature of himself by 1991, a mere seven years since the first film was released. It did have a pretty cool trailer (and poster) though, even if the tagline was a bold-faced lie. Can you imagine walking out of the theater in 1991 and knowing that that was the end of Freddy Krueger?
