The Babadook
Look, I get it. The Babadook is a metaphor for grief and the lesson is that in the end we cannot get rid of it. We must put it in its place and live with it in order to grow as human beings. We can feed it worms and dirt and it will be placated in the basement of our mind. I get it! It doesn’t mean it was a satisfying ending. After listening to that child scream for 94 minutes the least it could have done was eaten him. This isn’t a popular sentiment, but I stand by it. This is how the film should have ended:
