The Fog (February 8, 1980)
The Fog may not be John Carpenter’s best film, but it stands as one of his more memorable ones, turning a cool-looking weather phenomenon into a host for some pretty creepy spirits (they kill a harmless old lady!). It was the first of three Jamie Lee Curtis horror films to hit theaters in 1980 and it is arguably the best out of the three (going up against Terror Train and Prom Night). Just stay far, far away from the remake.
