The Silence of the Lambs (February 14, 1991)
The Slience of the Lambs is the only horror film to sweep the Academy Awards and win in all five major categories (Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay) and for good reason: it’s fucking great. It’s hard to believe that it didn’t win until over a year later (the 1992 Academy Awards were held on March 30th), since most award contenders are released in the holiday season. To think this was released on Valentine’s Day too!
