The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The haze of the hot Texan summer, the feeling of isolation in the middle of nowhere and the lack of music go together to make a bleak and harrowing ensemble. Despite the lack of music in the film itself, the opening credits with bizarre sounds and images of solar flares get it off to a disturbing start and it stays there.
