The Blair Witch Project
It’s a controversial choice this one. Opinions divide. But for me this is one of the only films that has genuinely scared me. I tend to get sucked into films easily, and this felt like being there. The handheld camera work, the badly lit trees and the feeling of being lost and slowly coming to an inevitable end is a horrible feeling. The fact that this film never attempts a visual of the antagonist just fits perfectly. Still one of the scariest ending to a film.
