Stakeland
This is the other end of atmospheric. It’s beautiful and still, almost calming at times. The post-apocalyptic thing has been done many times, as have vampires, but this was different. There was a run of films around the same time including Monsters and The Crazies (remake), which took a very gentle and sparse approach to horror, and it worked perfectly. The scenery and minimal piano soundtrack in this film are wonderful and it gives the end of world a completely different spin.
