Well, now we’ve got the whole thing – and it’s even moe intense towards the end. Lots of blood, nudity and a generally depraved, sleazy vibe. This thing is definitely NSFW.

The picture was written by Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D, Mirrors, High Tension) and his producing/writing partner Grégory Levasseur. It stars Elijah Wood (The Lord Of The Rings and Nora Arnezeder (Safe House).

If you’re still hung up on the whole Frodo thing, at least one of these stills from the Playlist might convince you that Wood is indeed the right man for the job here. No one said serial killers had to be hulking behemoths.

[News Bites] Cannes Edition: ‘Maniac’ To Premiere, Spierig Brothers Travel To ‘Predestination’, Check Into ‘No Tell Motel’ & Take Off To ‘Dark Flight 407′

An English-subbed trailer for the Thai horror Dark Flight 407 has been added to YouTube. “Thailand’s first 3D horror movie is ready to take off. The pic follows a flight attendant who is haunted by the victims of plane crashes.

Being sold at the market is Predestination, a new thriller from Undead and Daybreakers directors the Spierig Brothers. Sinister star Ethan Hawke, who starred in the Spierig’s Daybreakers, stars in the “Riveting adventure through time with two detectives from a secret government time traveling agency designed to prevent future killers and terrorists from committing their crimes.

The Cannes Film Festival has added another seven titles to its Official Selection, one the Midnight Screening title Maniac. According to the unreliable IMDB, the incredibly sexy America Olivo (pictured; Friday the 13th, Bitch Slap) will play the mother of Frank (Elijah Wood) in Franck Khalfoun’s now-filming remake of the 1980′s classic Maniac. They also report that Morgane Slemp (Hostel: Part III, R.I.P.D., Dracula 3D, Total Recall), Sal Landi (Poe), Dan Hunter, Freedom (Gangster Squad), Délé Ogundiran, Steffinnie Phrommany and Joshua De La Garza will also star alongside previously announced Nora Arnezeder and Genevieve Alexandra.

Halloween Treat: Shia LaBeouf Directs, Kid Cudi Scores ‘Maniac’!!

We’ve got a very special Halloween treat that comes courtesy of Shia LaBeouf, who has been dabbling in directing over the past year. This summer he took the reigns on Marilyn Manson’s new video “Born Villain”, and now he’s given Bloody Disgusting an exclusive look at “Maniac”, his short film starring both Scott Mescudi (aka Kid Cudi) and Chris Palko.

In the short a film crew follows two serial killers documenting their exploits. You can watch it over at the Bloody Disgusting Facebook. It’s very reminiscent of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer.

B-D Presents ‘Maniac’ This Friday at the Nuart Theatre

After teaming with Grindhouse Releasing to present a glorious brand-new 35mm print of Sam Raimi’s The Evil Dead back in March, Bloody-Disgusting is proud to announce that we will be joining forces with the powerhouse exploitation company again for a screening of Bill Lustig’s Maniac. The screening will take place at the Nuart Theatre (11272 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles, 90025) this Friday, November 5, at midnight. Just as with The Evil Dead, this is a brand-new 35mm print, and this screening will be the first time it has been ran through a projector outside of the lab. Grindhouse will have posters signed by Lustig available to buy at the theatre, and the director himself will be there to introduce the film and do a Q&A. Tickets are available here, and make sure to check after the break to see if Maniac is coming to a town near you.

Maniac

Frank misses his mother, who was killed in a car accident years before. She was abusive to him, and made money selling her body, but Frank still misses her. He tries to keep her from leaving him, and reform her evil ways, by killing young women and putting their scalps on mannequins which he displays around his apartment. Photographer Anna takes a picture of him in the park, and he pursues and befriends her. Is she the one he’s been looking for or just another mommy wanna be?

Kerwin Matthews, playing a dissolute drifter down on his luck, is stranded in a cheap bar in France where he falls for Annette, the pretty daughter of the proprietor, played by Nadia Gray. Nadia Gray gradually shifts the young man’s attentions to herself, rather than her daughter, and together Matthews and Gray concoct a plot to help Gray’s estranged husband, now a homicidal maniac confined in an institution after a grisly series of killings dubbed “The Acetylene Murders” by the press, out of the mental institution so he can escape from the country.
