1. The Thing
Is there any doubt that John Carpenter’s The Thing is the greatest remake of all time, horror or otherwise? Possibly, but it would still be a tough argument. The Thing is everything that is right with the horror remake. It’s hard to believe it was panned by critics and didn’t resonate with audiences at all when it was initially released in the summer of 1982. Time has been kind to Carpenter’s Antarctic chiller, and it is now considered a classic.
