3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
No one was ever going to be able to re-create Tobe Hooper’s masterpiece, but Marcus Nispel sure did try. The success of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake is what started the remake trend in the 2000s, so many people look upon it with disdain. It’s sort of like how people look down on Scream for all of the low-quality copycats in inspired. The logic behind that thinking makes no sense. The Texas Chainsaw Masscare is a gritty, visceral film that actually isn’t as gory as many people remember (If you read reviews from the time it was described as one of the goriest films ever made. Just look at Ebert’s 0-Star Review). Texas Chainsaw 2003 is an intense, thrilling film that all horror fans should enjoy at least a little bit. I confess, it’s actually my favorite horror remake, but I dare not place it above….
