4. Evil Dead
I don’t think I’ve ever watched a trailer as many times as I watched the Red-Band Trailer for Fede Alvarez’s wonderful Evil Dead remake (well, maybe the trailer for the next film on this list, but I digress). It was laughed at and criticized when it was announced, especially since most people were clamoring for an Evil Dead 4 (which we eventually got in the form of Starz’s Ash Vs. Evil Dead series). Little did we know that it was going to be a fucking awesome film that managed to be its own film while still paying enough of an homage to the original. In the end, it’s probably for the best we never got that Ash cameo, since now we can look at 2013’s Evil Dead on its own terms, a feat that all remakes should strive to achieve.
