2. Oculus (73% Rotten Tomatoes)
This is another film that I think is quite innovative but I see get a lot of hate. Oculus follows a brother and sister (The Signal’s Brenton Thwaites and Doctor Who’s Karen Gillan) who team up to destroy the mirror that killed their parents 11 years prior. Oculus then seamlessly jumps back and forth between the present day and 11 years ago as both timelines lead toward their gruesome conclusions. It’s a surprisingly tense and captivating film, with fantastic performances by Thwaites and Gillan, and it’s got a sucker punch of an ending.
