Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 60: The Gaslamp Killer “Seven Years Of Bad Luck For Fun”

Just because I’m still stuffed full of turkey, salads, pies, wine, beer, and who knows what else, doesn’t mean that I’m not going to bring you a Twisted Music Video Of The Week! Jeez!

Below you can watch the official video for “Seven Years Of Bad Luck For Fun” from The Gaslamp Killer feat. Dimlite, which comes off the debut LP Breakthrough (iTunes). With strong inspirations from David Lynch, this phantasmagoric video is disjointed, eerie and kind of unsettling. Check it out below!

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 59: The Cranberries “Zombie”

It’s Friday and it’s time to get twisted! This week’s Twisted Music Video Of The Week is none other than the smash hit “Zombie” from The Cranberries. This song appeared on their 1994 album No Need To Argue and is about struggle and strife in Ireland, particularly the death of two children from an IRA bombing. The video was directed by Samuel Bayer (who also directed Metallica‘s “Until It Sleeps”, which bears undeniable visual similarities) and mixes band performance, gritty military footage, and Biblical imagery similar to Bosch’s “The Garden Of Earthly Delights”. Check it out below!

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 58: The Heavy “Can’t Play Dead”

This week on Twisted Music Video Of The Week, I decided to keep the spirit of Halloween going for just a little bit longer. That’s why I chose “Can’t Play Dead”, from The Heavy. The song comes from the band’s latest release The Glorious Dead (iTunes). The video is full of creepy dolls, graveyard sequences, and grainy filters that all add up and scream, “We love horror!” Check it out below!

You might remember this band from their song “Short Change Hero”, which was used in the Batman: Arkham City trailer. READ MORE

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 57: Health “Tears”

If you’re not able to watch small children in any form of distress or danger, then I highly suggest you NOT watch this week’s Twisted Music Video Of The Week. Below is a short film for Health‘s “Tears”, which was directed by David Altobelli and Jeff Desom. The video shows children, none more than two, perhaps three years old, struggling to survive in what looks to be a ghost town of a metropolis. The children are filthy and have resorted to eating the raw meat of birds. It’s a visually striking video, although incredibly bleak.

The song comes from the recent video game Max Payne 3, which Health composed. You can find more information on that soundtrack here. READ MORE

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 56: Bat For Lashes “Daniel”

Alright, so I’ll fully admit that this edition of Twisted Music Video Of The Week is partly to promote our Bat For Lashes contest we have going on. But that doesn’t change the fact that the video for “Daniel” is dark, atmospheric, eerie, and those people dressed in black move like the nurses from Silent Hill (totally going to see the new movie later tonight). It’s also a beautiful song, one that I have to leave on once it starts. Check out the video below and, as always, leave a comment with your suggestion for next week’s video!

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 55: Young Rival “Two Reasons”

I’m in a pretty chipper mood today, so that’s why today’s Twisted Music Video Of The Week is a rather upbeat song. But I’m still not skimping out on weird visuals, oh no! Below, you can watch the video for “Two Reasons” from indie rock band Young Rival. The video came about when the band saw the artwork of Michigan artist James Kuhn via reddit. After emailing back and forth, Kuhn sent the band 25 CD’s of himself lip-syncing the song with various forms of face paint on, including a triceratops, Chewbacca, diva Plava Laguna, a witch, and more. Something about many of these images just really creeped me out. Check it out below!

The song comes from the band’s upcoming album Stay Young, which you can order here. READ MORE

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 54: Mothlite “Seeing In The Dark”

This week’s Twisted Music Video Of The Week is brought to you by Mothlite and the video for “Seeing In The Dark”! The song, which comes off their latest release Dark Age, is a more mellow, hauntingly subtle and lighthearted piece while the visuals are playful in their nightmarish aspects. Also, if you listen closely, you can hear tones that are very similar to the sounds Goblin used in their Dawn Of The Dead score! Check out the video below and ease into a nice relaxing weekend!

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 53: Heaven’s Basement “Fire, Fire” [Free MP3]

I…I hear something. It’s close but I can’t see where it is. Is it…could it be? Oh, dear god! It is! It’s another Twisted Music Video Of The Week!

This week I’m bring you a band called Heaven’s Basement and their video for “Fire, Fire”, which comes off the upcoming debut album Filthy Empire. The album, which has no set release date aside from “early 2013″ and will be released via Red Bull Records, was produced by John Feldman (The Used, Papa Roach, Black Veil Brides). The video shows the band rocking out in front of a pile of tires (correction: a HUGE pile of tires) while clips of actual riots, forest fires, explosions, floods, and more are interspersed. You can check out the video below.

The song is pretty damn awesome. It’s a catchy “arena hard rock” track that hearkens back to days when a hard rock song was just plain old fun. You can also download the song for free by ‘Liking’ the band’s Official Facebook page here. READ MORE

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 52: Robbie Williams “Rock DJ”

Holy crap, it’s been a year of Twisted Music Videos! That calls for a celebration! So, this week I bring you the music video for Robbie Williams‘ “Rock DJ”, which comes off his 200 album Sing When You’re Winning. Now, I’m sure that many of you are scratching your heads and wondering, “What the hell is he thinking?” And then there are probably some of you that are gathering your torches and pitchforks. I don’t blame you. I’d do the same thing if I read that Robbie Williams was being posted here and I hadn’t seen the video. However, knowing exactly what’s in the video, I feel very comfortable saying that you should at least check it out. It’s bloody, it’s gory, and it’s rather hilarious! Check it out below!

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 50: Title Fight “Secret Society”

With the release of the Texas Chainsaw 3D trailer yesterday, this Twisted Music Video Of The Week couldn’t fit more perfectly. I bring you “Secret Society” from Title Fight‘s Floral Green, which comes out next Tuesday (pre-order). The video shows a young girl who is infatuated with a local “bad boy”. But when she realizes that the object of her love is off the market, things go rather…violent. Probably NSFW, be careful watching this one!

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 49: Devin Townsend Band “Vampira”

It’s been a slightly miserable day today in terms of the weather. It was overcast with a small breeze. It was the type of weather that makes me crave the fun of Halloween. I want rain. I want grey clouds. I want fog. I want leafless trees. All of this combined made me decide that the Twisted Music Video Of The Week was going to be “Vampira” from none other than Devin Townsend Band! The song comes from the 2006 album Synchestra (Inside Out Music).

A new track Devin Townsend Project‘s upcoming album Epicloud entitled “True North” was streamed earlier today. Listen to it here.

Devin Townsend Project just hit the road as co-headliners alongside Katatonia on the “Epic Kings & Idols” Tour. Paradise Lost and Stolen Babies are opening. Tour dates can be found below.

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 44: Dimmu Borgir “Gateways”

It’s Friday! Twisted Music Video Of The Week time! This week we’ve got Dimmu Borgir‘s “Gateways”, which comes from their most recent album Abrahadabra (iTunes). Featuring guest vocals from Agnete Kjølsrud (ex-Animal Alpha, Djerv), the song is a fast-paced symphonic black metal ride that is pretty damn catchy and features some fantastic vocals towards the end. As for the video, it shows the band performing in an abandoned factory of some sort while all sorts of weird and crazy things happen around them. Gravity is defied, people bathe in blood, and organs are thrown about willy nilly. Check it out below!

Twisted Music Video Of The Week Vol. 43: Santigold “The Keepers”

It’s Friday and you know what that means. That’s right! Another Twisted Music Video Of The Week! This time, we’ve got “The Keepers” from Santigold. The song comes off her sophomore album Master Of My Make-Believe (iTunes), which came out May 1st via Downtown Records and Atlantic Records.

The video, while not your standard definition of “twisted” or “horror-esque”, has a very off-center feel about it. Nothing is quite normal in this video as a family enjoys their dinner, gets a hail of bullets shot at them, and then continue eating as thought nothing had happened. Is that all that happens? Oh no, not even close. You’ll have to watch the video to see what other craziness ensues.

And that’s why this week I’m excited to show you Lorn‘s “Ghosst(s)”, which is an animated video that, once it gets going, I dare you to look away from it. Okay, don’t ask me to explain what’s going on in this video because I can’t. I just can’t, alright?
