The Haunting (1963 and 1999)
Shirley Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House is widely considered one of the best haunted house stories ever written, and it’s 1963 film adaptation is considered one of the best horror films of all time (I’m not a fan, but that’s just me). The 1999 remake, however, is awful. That’s just a fact.
