Hellraiser (1987)
Again more of a short story than an actual novel, Clive Barker adapted his The Hellbound Heart for the screen in 1987, just a year after the novellas publication. Pinhead himself may not be explicitly referenced in the novella, but the Cenobites have never been scarier. One major difference is that in the novella, Kirsty is Rory’s (Larry in the movie) friend who has a crush on him, rather than his daughter like in the film.
