18.) Dead & Buried
An underrated gem by director Gary Sherman, set in a small coastline town where the dead have a habit of returning, has stellar effects by master Stan Winston and great atmosphere. It also ended up on the Video Nasties. Not for long though. The film was dropped and never prosecuted, likely because the theatrical version passed with no cuts necessary. That didn’t stop the BBFC from chopping out 30 seconds worth from the 1990 release. There’s not much here to cause offense, but it is a stellar horror movie nonetheless.
