20.) Deep River Savages

The film that began the cannibal sub-genre of exploitation films, also known as Sacrifice and Man from Deep River, is a sure bet for the Video Nasties. Directed by Umberto Lenzi, this film saw a lot cringe-worthy animal brutality, like a monkey’s head being chopped off and its brains eaten. Lenzi reused scenes from this film for his follow up cannibal film Eaten Alive. While the theatrical release was rejected, the video release somehow escaped prosecution and was dropped from the list eventually. It was resubmitted for classification in 2003, and only allowed to pass if it cut the animal cruelty scenes.
