19.) Death Trap
More commonly known as Eaten Alive, Tobe Hooper’s follow up to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, was a film of which staunch conservative and strong censorship advocate Mary Whitehouse took great offense. It was thanks to her campaign with the National Viewers’ and Listeners’ Association that stirred up the prosecutions in the first place. A very loose telling of real-life serial killer Joe Ball, who fed his victims to his pet alligator, Death Trap was unsuccessfully prosecuted. The BBFC still demanded 25 seconds worth of cuts for the 1992 release, and it finally passed uncut in 2000.
