Now a cult classic, Andrzej Zulawski’s surreal take on a marital breakdown, it was extremely controversial upon initial release (tentacled sex and an extremely intense scene featuring a miscarriage might do that). It was banned as a Video Nasty, and authorities tried to prosecute it. They failed, it was eventually dropped from the list. It wasn’t until 1999 that the film finally saw an uncut release.
