Breaking Down All 72 Video Nasties!

The Beyond

39.) House on the Edge of the Park

Another Last House on the Left knockoff, this time from Cannibal Holocaust director Ruggero Deodato, sees a crazed rapist crash a snotty rich kid party. Chaos ensues. That it’s essentially borrowing from Last House on the Left would be enough to draw the ire from the DPP. But, in true Deodato fashion, this one manages to be much nastier and sleazier than the film it’s trying to emulate. Even Deodato found the script extremely violent. Not only was theatrical release rejected, but House on the Edge of the Park was prosecuted and banned. The BBFC finally passed the film in 2002, but only after nearly 12 minutes had been cut.
